Cpu stolen....Great.
Guess I'll be waiting till the 69xx series comes out afterall. I was going to just go ahead and buy the GTX 580. Problem is that someone stole my i7-950 processor off my front door:(

I live in a nice apartment complex but I still didn't feel safe that the UPS man might leave the package on the door step so I taped a note (with heavy duty packaging tape) telling the UPS man to deliver all packages to the main office. In the past 3 days I've received about 7 packages...all delivered to the main office like my note entailed. Today I checked some tracking numbers and both the processor and the CPU-cooler were marked as delivered to the front door. Yet when I got home tonight there was nothing there, I checked with my next door neighbor...he hadn't seen anything.

Whats suspicious is that the note was ripped off the door. I do not believe that the note could have blown off. The whole things seems shady to me...I'm gonna check tomorrow to make sure it wasn't delivered to the main office anyhow. Although for all the previous items that were sent to the main office, the status of the tracking number is "residential" instead of "front door".

So anyhow I tried to start the series of phone calls I now need to make but couldn't make it very far for tonight. I talked to UPS, they said it was marked as delivered on my front door at about 3:00pm. I told them I didn't get it and they said I have to contact Newegg to have them investigate. Newegg's hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm though.

From what I can gather online is that Newegg will eventually make sure the situation is righted but it may take up to two weeks. Amazon apparently is way better about these situations and will send you another package in 1-2 days.

So I guess I will be getting to see what the 69xx series will have to offer afterall. Who knows? Maybe the 6970 will blow the GTX 580 out of the water and this all will be a blessing in disguise.

Still sucks tho. lol.

Man that sucks. I had my cell phone stolen off my front porch. I never like it when they leave my packages. Hopefully things will get sorted out.

Woah that sucks and even then that's an understatement.

Hope everything goes well for you. I've had an Ipod and a $50 Bill stolen from me not that it compares to that but it blows when some jerk thinks he's entitled to your stuff and he takes it without feeling bad at all.

Yeah its ridiculous that UPS will leave packages at your front door when there is a perfectly good front office. They did the same thing to me with some head phones and my motherboard and CPU cooler. Im guessing they are just too lazy to take the items back down to the front desk when they can just drop them there. BTW when they left them at my front door the UPS tracking status said front door too.

I didnt get anything stolen, just now I was out and left a note on my door for UPS guy to leave it at front desk if no one was there, I get back just as the guy is leaving the building, and my package is sitting right there in front of my door with the note.... maybe they have some policy where they cant do that.

RE: Cpu stolen....Great.
Good news!

I got my CPU and cpu cooler Smile The guy had brought it to the front desk after all. I couldn't check last night because the main office was closed by the time I got home. The UPS guy tore down the note for some reason and stuck it on the packages.

Now back to the temptation of the GTX 580...anyone else trying to hold off buying their GPU until the 69xx comes out?

Glad to hear it!! I keep going back and forth on video cards too..... Only a couple more days and a couple more cards should be out and bringing prices down or giving me something new to buy.
