USB Surge on New Build
Hi Guys:
I am getting this message when my ASUS either resarts or wakes up: "Power Surge on Hub Port. A USB device has exceeded the power ..." The only thing I have plugged in to USB is a trackball mouse and a blu-tooth adapter. It affects those two ports at the root usb level. I do the required reset. I have tried moving them to other USB ports and the same thing happens. I have uninstalled the USB drivers and let WIN 7 reinstall and it still happens. I have gotten some of these tips from a google search, but I thought I would put it here to see what you guys think -- since I trust this site for good info. Any comment will be appreciated. Tim

RE: USB Surge on New Build
To me, it sounds like your motherboard is physically damaged, most likely from a static shock or something alike.
Contact ASUS, to see if they have a solution (most likely not, but still worth a shot), otherwise it's time for a RMA/return under warranty.

Thanks Mathieu --
I will contact ASUS. I didn't consider a MOBO crash -- OUCH! Tim
