How do i spare my SSD from unnecessary writes?
i get asked this question quite a bit. i even get asked questions about the best way to set the page file, ie. should i make a small partition on a hard drive , place it on another smaller ssd, etc. my usual answer is, well unless your running a consumer grade ssd on a server then you will probably wear it out sooner than later but on a personal pc you will probably upgrade way before that ssd wears out.

i was reading some reviews on the new 750 evo(primarily a budget drive for a whopping 10 bucks less than an 850 evo, and ran across this article:

http://techreport.com/review/26523/the-s...a-petabyte)

fairly interesting data, my guess is that ssd manufacturers lists a very conservative max write cycle number in order to keep consumer drives out of enterprise storage arrays.
