if you figure $400 msrp plus maybe $75 for the aftermarket cooler then thats more in line with what the card is probably actually worth, but then again its worth whatever someone is willing to pay but it sure beats $650 they were asking for it. id snatch it up the 10% is only good for 3 more days.

Good points. TRI-X is always more $$ over stock. Who knows what the MSRP of the thing was actually supposed to be.

I hate to utter these words, but maybe I can make a small portion of the money back LiteCoin mining too. Want to stress, I'm buying these for gaming, not to make money. It just couldn't hurt to try, and get a few $$ back.

Is it true that the latest gen of AMD cards can run 3 monitors in eyefinity without the need for Display Port? I thought I read that somewhere. It would be nice to avoid an Active DP to DVI/HDMI Adapter if I don't need one.

The Sapphire has 2 DVI-D, 1 HDMI, and 1 DP on the back.

Yes, you can run three monitors without an adapter, with the two DVI and the HDMI output.

Well, I have yet to convince She Who Must Be Obeyed.

I tried to go with the "It's an investment!" route, but it's hard to be convincing when I don't actually believe that...

I'm currently playing games from 2006 (Supreme Commander) on a single monitor anyway. I figure I'll wait until I'm playing a struggling game. Probably around the time Maxwell and/or Star Citizen drops, and/or if I have to bring my current pair of 560's back to my job...

It dropped down to $499. It seems like all the R9 290's are starting to level out in price.
