Will Tier 2 work for me?
I'm a new user here, and this will also be my first attempt at building a PC. Looking at the articles on the various gaming pc builds, and the prices associated with each, I'm thinking I could possibly get away with a Tier 2 rig. Here's some info that I hope will help to determine if this seems okay:

1. For games, I generally like to play strategy games such as Civilization, Europa Universalis 4, Crusader Kings 2, older wargames like Combat Mission. Every once in awhile, I'd like to maybe play something like Call of Duty: Ghosts (which I haven't tried yet), so I figure that would be the most demanding game on the rig.

2. I have an Acer S230HL monitor. I usually have it set at 1920x1080 and it seems to support 1080p.

3. I'd like to at least be able to support high level of details if not maximum.

4. It would be nice to have a rig that will last me at least 5 years. I currently own a Dell XPS running Win XP that I bought back in 2006, but I obviously can't play any of the current FPS games on it.

Thanks for any advice you may have!

Playing games at 1080p with high/max details won't be a problem.

Your rig should last 5 years without any issue, but just like your Dell XPS after 5 years, your rig will struggle to play the newer games in 5 years.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping to hear.
