My first build. Tier 2 Gaming box w/ some upgrades
Just completed my first PC build earlier today. I used the gaming tier 2 budget system build with a few upgrades. The suggested components for the tier 2 gaming system have changed a little since I built it but I'm really happy with the results.

Here are the parts I used in my build: ASrock socket AM3+/AMD 760G/DDR3/SATA3&USB3.0 Motherboard 960GM/U3S3 FX - $89.99, AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition - $109.99, G.Skill Ares 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin SDRAM DDR3 1866 - $87.99, Rosewill Challenger ATX Mid Tower - $49.99, Silverstone 600W 80 Plus Certified Power Supply ST60F-ES - $64.99, ASUS 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive DRW-24B1ST - $21.95, Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD SATA 6GB/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST1000DM003 - $63.24, and a MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 OC 2GB - $259.99. Total for all parts = $748.13. Spent $119.00 for a full version of Windows 8.1 bringing the total to $867.13.

Everything went together pretty easy although my wiring harness management could probably be improved on. The New Egg how-to videos posted in the budget tier 2 section walk you through every step. The only real issue I had was getting the CPU into the Motherboard. The socket and processor go together differently than the Intel socket and CPU in the videos.

Thank you all very much for all the great information for building my first PC. Big thanks to H-R for providing information on current equipment and how to get the best bang for your buck. Now if you will excuse me I'll get back to my new PC. I've been without a system for over a month and need to get my gaming fix.

Is there room to stuff cables behind the motherboard? (Behind the back of the case?) That usually solves most wiring problems these days.

Either way, enjoy!
