Critique my build - built for BF4
I'm looking to run BF4 on Ultra flawlessly. I took the Tier 5 and only upgraded the GPU to a GTX780

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card
Case: Corsair 600T Mesh (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Rosewill Capstone 650W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM)
Monitor: Asus VH238H 23.0" Monitor
Keyboard: Microsoft SIDEWINDER X4 Wired Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech G500 Wired Laser Mouse

I have no soundcard because I have an external DAC that I will be using with the system.

At the moment, I'm moving forward with 1080p as my monitor resolution.

Here are my questions so far:
  • 1080p vs 1440p - Is it worth the difference?
  • Currently looking for a great ATX case that provides great cooling and low sound levels - is that an oxymoron?
  • Any bottlenecks in my build?
  • For first time builds, are ATX mobos cases the way to go? Mainly in terms of space, ventilation etc.

This site has been great help.

Thanks!

-No.The 600t has a pretty good cooling.

Any bottlenecks in my build?
-I can't find one but i have no idea how the PSU fares.

-Yes.

RE: Critique my build - built for BF4
It all looks good to me.

Regarding your questions:
- 1440p is a lot more demanding on the video card. If you want to run every game on maxed out settings, you might need a second video card. 1080p will run maxed out for pretty much any game and your GTX 780 will last you a few years without any problem. BF4 should run maxed out at 1080p, but not at 1440p.

- The Corsair 600T is a pretty decent choice for that. The Fractal Design Define R4 and Antec P280 are quiet and offer good airflow. The Corsair Obsidian 650D is an excellent choice, but comes at an higher cost.

- No bottleneck. Are you going to overclock? If yes, moving up to a 750W PSU would be wise.

- Yes, ATX cases are the biggest ones, so you have more space to work with and you can have more fans. Just double-check the case dimensions, some people underestimate how big a PC case can be and realize too late that it won't fit under their desk, etc.
Laptop: MSI GS30 Shadow-045 Dimensions: 12.6" x 8.9" x 0.8" 2.65lbs CPU: Intel Core i7-4870HQ Quad-Core + Hyper-Threading OC 2.5-3.9GHz RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz Video Card: Intel Iris Pro 5200 Storage: 2x128GB SDD RAID0 Audio: ASUS Xonar U3 USB Sound Card + Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones Screen: 13.3" - 1920 x 1080 IPS + 27" Dell P2715Q IPS 3840 x 2160 Keyboard: Filco Majestouch MX Cherry Blue Mouse: Logitech MX518

RE: Critique my build - built for BF4
Thanks for the replies guys

I'm actually going to delay my build until mid September-October (To take advantage of the Chase 5% cashback from Amazon).

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to go forward with the 780, or AMD 7990.

Since release of AMD 9000 Series will happen approximately next month, and the slight complaints of the 7990 (Coil whir, more cooling) what would I need to do to make my current build "7990 efficient" (Cooling, extra fans etc.).

I am sticking with 1080p monitor build, but see the 7990 as an option to get a 1440 in the future as well.

P.s - I am looking towards getting the Fractal Design R4 as my case.

Thanks
