Placing this order tomorrow
I want to wait until tomorrow morning to see if newegg.com conjures up some more 740BE's ... but, assuming that doesn't work out ... this will be the parts to my new budget gaming PC, in no discernible order:

I'm partial to getting everything from one site. UPS 3-day guaranteed shipping came to under six bucks for the whole lot.

Do the gurus approve? Any and all opinions welcomed.

RE: Placing this order tomorrow
I think everything looks ok.
Maybe take a look at this ram though
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820231277
Great reviews, a little faster 1600 vs. 1333 and its the same price as the G.Skill has free shipping
Its minor, but maybe worth looking into
Good luck, its fun isn't it?!

RE: Placing this order tomorrow

If the RAM is faster and at the same price, it "sounds" like a good deal. Is that a good brand?

My understanding of hardware is in the "HOW" stage. I understand "how" things work, and how to assemble them for the most part. I don't understand most of the "why"

Should I go with Nate's suggestion and this other RAM ?

RE: Placing this order tomorrow
Nate's suggestion for RAM is valid and 1600MHz is marginally faster than 1333MHz, not in a perceivable way though. The only issue with those particular sticks is their tall heatsinks, which can be in the way of an after-market CPU Cooler.

As for your build, I'd change the following:

Video Card: The ASUS GTX 460 768MB will perform exactly the same, yet costs $10 less and $30 less after the Mail-In Rebate:
ASUS GTX 460 768MB[Image: image-3067296-10440897]

CPU Cooler: The Cooler Master Hyper 212 + is a much better CPU Cooler for the same price and is actually less expensive after the mail-in rebate ($15):
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus[Image: image-3067296-10440897]

The rest is good to go.
Laptop: MSI GS30 Shadow-045 Dimensions: 12.6" x 8.9" x 0.8" 2.65lbs CPU: Intel Core i7-4870HQ Quad-Core + Hyper-Threading OC 2.5-3.9GHz RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz Video Card: Intel Iris Pro 5200 Storage: 2x128GB SDD RAID0 Audio: ASUS Xonar U3 USB Sound Card + Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones Screen: 13.3" - 1920 x 1080 IPS + 27" Dell P2715Q IPS 3840 x 2160 Keyboard: Filco Majestouch MX Cherry Blue Mouse: Logitech MX518

It should; the G.Skill RAM isn't big at all.

Shouldn't be a problem, the V8 isn't that "wide", since it doesn't have fans on its ends.
