My new gaming rig.
So after much research and debate I have finally decided on parts. I put my order in this morning. Everything should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I made a few upgrades from what I had originally intended to get mainly because I passed on a 64GB SSD, so I had some extra cash to upgrade my graphics card, CPU, and power supply.
  • AMD Phenom II X4 955BE 3.2GHz 6MB L3 125W Quad-Core
  • ASRock EXTREME3 870: CF 8x/8x SATA6Gb/s USB3.0 ATX
  • G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333MHz
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 460 SSC+ 1GB
  • Samsung F3 1TB SATA II 3.0Gb/s
  • ASUS SATA 24X DVD Burner
  • OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
  • Arctic Cooling MX-4 Thermal Compound
  • Antec Three Hundred Illusion – 3 x 120mm + 1 x 140mm
  • Acer S201HLbd Black 20" 5ms LED-Backlight LCD monitor
  • Logitech Gaming Keyboard G110
  • Logitech MX 518 High Performance Optical Gaming Mouse
  • Windows 7 Home Edition

I had intended to keep in under $1000 but ended up spending about $1200. Though that was mainly because I didn't have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or OS.

I'd like to thank Mathieu for all the help HR has given to me. I'll post pics once I get this bad boy build either Wednesday or Thursday.

RE: My new gaming rig.
I built my system this afternoon without any major problems. It took me 10 minutes and a post here before I figured out why my front intake fans weren't powering on (thanks Andrew!).

Here's a couple pics I took.

Everything put in place (minus cable management)

In it's temporary spot in a spare bedroom while I paint and put hardwood floors into my office.

I could not have built this without Hardware Revolution. Everything I learned about computers I learned in the last two months and from here. I cannot thank Mathieu enough for creating this website. It has truly been a godsend.

Actually it's a 22" Vizio TV. My monitor has been stuck in Illinois due to the massive storm that rolled through.
