This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

This happens when I try to install any program on Ubuntu 12.10.

Edit - I think this may help you.

This is the part I think may help you.

Try this:

Open the terminal and try the following commands:

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get install -f

That's how I mostly fix dependency problems. As you are using 12.04 a stable version, I think this will do the trick otherwise you can do

sudo apt-get update

to get the newest packages index and then repeat the first commands.
