Just ordered parts for my new Workstation
I got some great deals on Newegg today during Black Friday. The best ones are as follows:

1. Seasonic X Series X650 Gold was marked down 50% so I got it for $89.95

2. The Intel I7 3930k was marked down $70 making it $499.99 and on top of that I saved another $25 by getting it as a combo with the motherboard that was marked down $15. That is a total savings of $110 between the two.

3. Western Digital VelociRaptor 500 GB was marked down $120 making it $79.99, which I couldn't pass up. Big Grin I will partition this drive with the faster partition assigned as a Photoshop scratch disk. I was planning on an SSD for the scratch disk, but this was too good a deal plus the scratch is only used on Photoshop startup due to the amount of RAM I am using.

4. Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 cooler was $69.99 after a mark down and promo code.

The other deals were in line with Amazon, but the above items were great deals!

Here is a listing of the parts I bought for the new build:
  • Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl case
  • Seasonic X Series X650 Gold
  • (2) Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD writer
  • Western Digital VelociRaptor 500 GB drive (used for Photoshop scratch and fast working drive)
  • Western Digital WD Black 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA Drive (for data storage)
  • Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB SSD (I got this one due to the 830s being out of stock and the standard 840 using unproven TLC chips. This was marked down $70)
  • Asus P9X79 Pro X79 motherboard
  • Intel i7 3930k CPU
  • Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 heat sink
  • G. Skill Ripjaws Z Series 64 GB (8 x 8 GB) 240-pin SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
  • EVGA Geforce GTX 650 video card

I ordered a NEC PA241W-BK and NEC P241W-BK-SV today. One is wide gamut color space and the other is normal color space. The second one is bundled with the color calibration kit that worked with both monitors. Both were on sale. Smile

The order from Newegg arrived today, except the case and an eSATA card. The case should arrive tomorrow along with the eSATA card.

The monitors from B&H Photo should arrive in the next couple of days.

I have a new power backup unit on the way since my current one is underpowered for the new rig and the battery needs replaced anyway.

RE: Just ordered parts for my new Workstation
Received the Case and my eSATA card today along with the backup power unit, which is a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD.

The monitors are all that is left and they are supposed to be here tomorrow.

Well, there is one more thing left which is the Logitech T650 touchpad, but it isn't needed to start assembling the PC this weekend. What a great weekend it is looking to become. Smile
