$115 AMD A8-5600K APU 3.6Ghz Processor
Hi, I was planning on following the Tier 2 build and decided to upgrade the CPU to the Intel i5-3450. The i5 goes for $195 right now. I was wondering if the new AMD APU would fit into the Tier 2 build without any other changes, and also if it would be a better buy. Thanks for the help!

EDIT: Oh, it's an APU. Well I'm not exactly sure how an APU works...but it looks like a combination of a CPU and a GPU? Am I still able to use my own GPU or would I be stuck with this integrated GPU?

You mean would it work in Tier 2 besides an entirely different motherboard?

You would have to get an entirely different motherboard, and IMO the APUs are nearly useless unless you don't have a dedicated graphics card.

I would stick with the i5-3450 as it should have better performance. If you change to an AMD processor, you would need to get a different motherboard as already mentioned.
