freezing while gaming
new member here. I recently built a tier 5 PC with all the recommended parts. put it together with the help of a friend who knows way more than I do...

here's the problem, after an hour or two of gaming/general use it goes into a black screen and gives me a buzzing sound.

drivers are all up to date, fans are working..

note: only changes to the build is that I'm using a SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970 3GB OC.

RE: freezing while gaming
Is the buzzing sound coming from your speakers or your tower? does your computer become completely unusable after the freezing? for example can you still do ctr alt del?

RE: freezing while gaming
id try to monitor the gpu under full load and diag from there. if the gpu diag looks fine, then it could be a power supply problem.

good luck.

kept an eye on it, cpu temp was at about 45C when it gave up on me.

-.- on a side note, its not showing me an RPM for my cpu fan, yet theyre on, as well as all other fans.

RE: freezing while gaming
do you get any graphical glitches prior to the screen goin black? maybe try with the side off and check for heat sources ...from past exp,it could be a video card issue...but you never know :-\

Wish there were graphical errors before it went black, itd be easier to diagnose, bu no it just goes black immediately. I'm thinking of switching out the psu then seeing how it handles then.. :|

RE: freezing while gaming
I think it's some problem with the new drivers.
AMD pushed them out to early.

Same happens to me when using Flash sometimes.

Personally I would uninstall the drivers and look for the version 12.3

RE: freezing while gaming
i would diag that gpu further with a utility like furmark and gpu-z and see what you can determine. kaid could be correct in that is a factory oc card and it could very well be a driver problem. if it did it with a previous catalyst version, then i would try the 12.6 beta version and see what it does.
