XFX Video Card ATX 750 - P1750SNLB9

SanDisk Extreme SSD 120GB GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s2.5-Inch Solid State Drive- SDSSDX-120G-G25 -

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive - WD5000AAKX

Sony AD-7280S-0B 24x SATA Internal DVD+/-RW Drive (Black)

NZXT HAVIK CPU Cooler with Dual 140MM Fans - Silver/Black

Corsair Carbide Series 400R Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case - CC-9011011-WW

ASUS Xonar DS 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card

RE: 1st time build
You seem to have two different video cards in your list, but other than that, it looks good to me.

1st time build
I think the second "video card" was meant as a PSU.

RE: 1st time build
Thanks for taking time to reply!

Yes, that was the PSU- copied and pasted from what looks like a mistaken name from Amazon.

Will 750W be enough if in the future I want to SLI 670's or 680's? I'm more apt to stay single gpu though.

I also had the tough time weighing the benefits/cons of a mid-size case vs. full tower (was thinking of the Corsair 600 series)... hoping that when I opt to upgrade in 2-3 yrs (fingers crossed) the Corsair 400 won't be too small?

thanks again- the site's been immensely helpful- once the parts come in, I'm sure I will be referring and asking for help again.

RE: 1st time build
750W will be enough for two GTX 670 in SLI, might be a bit tight if you go with two GTX 680 in SLI, especially if you overclock.

I don't see how the Corsair 400 would be too small in 2-3 years, it's still a mid-size case after all.

RE: 1st time build
In that case, I might just go for the recommended XFX 850W. Thanks.

RE: 1st time build
Hi everyone,

Small change to my build went back down to the cheaper ASUS Xonar DG and forgo the wireless.

Just assembled the build and managed to get the boot screen! But as a neophyte, am worried about some things:

The 670 GPU power connection looks like two sections, and the provided cables from the XFX PSU did not have something suitable. I ended up using one PCI-E, and then used a molex adapter for the other section. Did I do something ridiculous? Am I right to assume both sections were needed?

The case became quite crowded once I mounted the Havok cpu cooler (which was horribly difficult if one followed the manual... much easier to preassemble before mounting...newbie mistake). I basically lost one of the PCI 3 slots and placed the GPU onto a second slot. The problem is that I was left with only 1 PCI slot that the Xonar audio card could fit into. This slot is right underneath the GPU fans, practically touching. Is this going to cause some serious airflow problems? (about 1/2-2/3 of two of the 3 fans are covered)? Will the audio card melt/get excessively dirty?

It's been an exhausting day/evening...

thanks!
