Compatibility of parts?
First of all thanks to those who put this guide together

I'm going to start a build and hoping to use the following:

Intel Core i5-2500

ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

8gb ram

SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCIE Graphics Card

Seagate Barracuda 7200 500 GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s 16 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST500DM002

LG 22X Super-Multi DVD Burner

Rosewill HIVE 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Modular

I already have the Cooler Master Elite 430 and add a fan or two. Would also like to add an internal memory card reader, suggestions more than welcome.

Thanks in advance for any/ all input

RE: Compatibility of parts?
I'm guessing you are not planning on doing any major overclocking, because you have the 2500 instead of 2500K. If I'm right, then you're build looks solid.

If you are planning on doing something fancy, I would suggest you get a stronger power supply and a cpu cooler that isn't stock. You might want to get a cpu fan just to be on the safe side.

RE: Compatibility of parts?
Everything is compatible, pretty similar to what I'm going to be building.

This seems to be a pretty popular internal card reader, unless you are looking for USB 3.0 or other features.

Yeah I was thinking about putting this but honestly am a little concerned about the install. I was also thinking that since the ram is only $40 perhaps I can double up and get 16gb or is that overkill? So would 600w PSU suffice?

RE: Compatibility of parts?
You won't need the aftermarket CPU cooler with the i5 2500. If you decide to go with the 2500k and overclock, then you will want an aftermarket CPU cooler. It definitely won't hurt if you want to get one though.

As far as the RAM, that's really your call. If you could actually utilize more than 8gb then by all means go for it. What exactly will you be doing with the new PC? Otherwise you could spend the extra cash on getting a larger hard drive or look into getting an SSD.

RE: Compatibility of parts?
Just general use, gaming, browsing etc. So what about the power supply? will the 550 be enough or will I need something larger?

Yep, the 550w will be plenty.
