my first time computer build
So this is my first build I'd like to make, and I am posting this on here for second opinions on any part of the build or apparent problems I am unaware of.
This build follows the tier 2 guide found here. Besides the motherboard, and case everything is found on the tier list page. Goals of PC- a system that allows me to play current and upcoming games, don't need max settings, just good playability and trying to keep it below $700, also a case that says "I'm made for gaming". CPU Intel Core i5-2400 3.1-3.4GHz Turbo Quad-Core($190) Motherboard BIOSTAR TZ68A+ LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel ($95) Ram G.Skill 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333MHz($23) Videocard Radeon HD 6870 1GB($160) Storage Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB SATA III($85) Optical Drive LG SATA 22X DVD Burner($16) Power Supply Silverstone 500W 80PLUS($60) Case NZXT Guardian Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Case 921RB-BL ($70) so I'm at $699 total. However the case was not on the list, and I just want to make sure the case is kosher compatibility/size wise with the other parts. Also I noticed that the storage on amazon could be found refurbished for $55. That would save me $30, would there be any objections to using one of those? But besides that if anyone has suggestions please let me know, Thanks! |

RE: my first time computer build
Looks like a solid build.
As for the hard drive, its up to you if you want to risk it with a refurbished one. I actually posted a deal today where you can get a 1 TB Samsung HDD for $90. Its one of the more reliable units available and only $5 more than the 500GB you have in your build. If you could use the extra space, I'd jump on it today if possible. CPU: Intel i5 2500k Motherboard: ASRock Extreme 3 Gen 3 Z68 Video Card: Sapphire Radeon 6870 Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8gb Power Supply: Rosewill Hive 550w Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB Case: Antec 300 Illusion Monitor: ASUS 23" 5ms 1080p Mouse: Logitech G500 |
