workstation build check
Hi everyone.

I need to build a workstation to do VFX work/Rendering (ASAP), and now that Intel released the Xeon E5 the time feels right. However, as the High-End Workstations post hasn’t been updated in a while (I did chose some parts from that build, though), and it has been years since I last built a PC, I wanted to post it here so you guys can check it out and give me your recommendations or advices.

So, what do you think? Is this build good to go, or are there cheaper/better parts that you'd recommend?

RE: workstation build check
Let's see:
- The LGA2011 platform supports quad-channel RAM, so to get all the bandwidth possible, you want eight sticks (4 sticks for each CPU) of RAM, like this kit: for 32GB.

- The motherboard uses the SSI CEB form factor instead of the more common ATX form factor, so you need a case that supports SSI CEB form factor motherboards, which is not the case (pun not intended) for the Fractal Design XL. The Cooler Master Cosmos II would be a choice:
Alternatively, you can pick a motherboard with an E-ATX form factor, supported by many more cases.

- The vast majority of OCZ SSDs offer very poor reliability and I wouldn't recommend one for a Workstation. The Plextor M3 series is much more reliable and is backed by a 5 years warranty:

- The CPU Coolers come with high-quality thermal paste, do you don't need to buy more.

The rest looks good to me.
