New/hardware check
Hello first I'd like to say amazing site very glad I stumbled over it. Second I'm new to the PC building but have always been curious.

This is what I was planning on building. I'm unsure about what GPU I will use as I'm debating several and, don't know if the PSU will be enough. I'm thinking no more than 350ish maybe a little over depending if its worth it.

Was looking at GTX 560Ti and 570 also 6950 and 6970 but most of the Radeons are sold out or seem overpriced. A little help would be appreciated. I'll be using my TV 1920 x 1080 1080p

Intel Core i5-2500K
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Rosewill HIVE Series HIVE-550 550W
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM
COOLER MASTER HAF 922

RE: New/hardware check
7850 sounds like a good choice as its 260 on Newegg though they're out of stock. They're supposed to be better than 560 Ti, rival 570, and with tons of potential for OC'ing, they can almost reach the levels of a 580. Your PSU should be good enough, but if you OC on both 2500k and PSU I don't think so.

Power supply is absolutely fine for both GPU and CPU overclocking. 550W is plenty.

RE: New/hardware check
What if I were to jump up to a radeon hd 7870 2gb? With OC in mind would it still be enough? I don't plan on doing right away because I'm new to that but, would a CPU cooler fit with the RAM I chose?

Thanks for the replies!

RE: New/hardware check
I assume it would since the 7870s doesn't use much more power than the 7850s.(?)

My bad, I thought I replied to you already, guess I forgot to hit the "Post Reply" button.

550W is enough to handle an i5-2500K and a 7870, both overclocked.
