Talk about a lame move by Sapphire.

I sent feedback to Amazon regarding this, before other people buy the card from Amazon, expecting the rebate.

I updated the article too. Thanks for letting us know.

EDIT: Looks like this applies to the Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 too.

That makes no sense, where else do people buy their vid cards? That's like all the top online venues.

It makes sense if you're trying to cut down on costs as a business.

In the long run though, it's a bad business move, seeing as you're going to have pissed off customers, who most likely won't buy from your business again, because you've declined their rebates.

This is such a slimy move, it feels like it should be illegal! Regardless of whether I'm eligible for the rebate or not, now I will avoid Sapphire cards because I do not agree with this kind of marketing.

RE: Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2 GB rebate issue?
I sent my rebate info away in mid-October for a Sapphire 6870 and finally got the rebate last week. I knew this already but it came as an AMEX gift card and AMEX isn't accepted at many stores where I live (Winnipeg). It ended up being accepted at Coles (a book store) so I grabbed a few paperbacks. Makes the rebates somewhat useless if they can't be spent anywhere. It took Cooler Master awhile to send me one for a PSU but at least they just cut me a cheque… MIB's are a pain in general and this only furthers the notion!
