OK to use Radeon HD 6870 with a Tier 1 setup?
Through browsing boxing day sales, I've discovered that I can obtain a Radeon HD 6870 card for less than the lowest price I can find for a 6850 card. Would I be able to upgrade the video card without upgrading the other recommended Tier 1 components? My monitor will be 1600x900.

As long as you don't overclock the video card, you'll be fine. If you do decide to overclock it, I'd upgrade the PSU to Tier 1OC/2.
