PSU 550W and HD6870x2

PSU 550W and HD6870x2

I have the following system:

CPU: Intel Core i5 760 - 2,8 Ghz
Memory: 2xFBGA Mars 2GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9
HDD: 1xWestern Digital 1TB Caviar Black
Video: PowerColor HD6870x2

I wonder if my power supply Sirtec (HP-550-G14C 550W) can run with my new video card HD6870x2, I didn't overclocked my system and from what I read the video card should consume no more than 350W in full load. I have place an order for a new PSU, Seasonic 850W but it will take some time and I wanted to know if it's possible.

While it should be possible, you'd be pushing your current PSU to its limit, which could result in it breaking down and possibly damaging your other components. Mind you, if you stay away from gaming, you'd be fine.

So yes, it's possible, as long as you stay away from gaming for now.

Well, it's a little harder to stay away from gaming, so you said it's risky.

You'll want about 650W for that.

Yes, I know that, I already order a new PSU but it will take some time!
