External to Internal Hard drive?
Could you buy an external hard drive that's cheaper than the internal ones and just tear it open and use the internal drive and throw away the enclosure?

Yes on certain models, on others they do have proprietary connections internally. Of course it voids warranty but seeing these high prices on internals, the smarter thing to do would be to use an external, change to internal. You should google the external drive to see what drive is inside.

I have a 1TB Western Digital that was a USB external drive for a friend. He unplugged it while it was writing (so he says) and lost all of the data. I tore it open, took the drive out, formatted it, and it's worked perfectly for me as an internal drive...
