You usually need to have the ram slots alternating. Lets say Ram slot 1 is closest to CPU socket, Ram slot 4 is farthest away. It should be Ram slot 2 occupied and Ram slot 4 occupied. It shouldn't be Ram slot 3 and 4 occupied. This is for most motherboards if I'm not mistaken (dual channel thing). However, I don't know the true answer to your question Sad

Yes, that's correct, although a few motherboards require using slot 1&2 or 3&4 for dual-channel. Make sure to double-check your motherboard manual.
