Big Grin  Building my first computer, let me know if these specs work
Ok so I I've seen a bunch of ppl on here that needed advice on their system build and I'm one of them so pls if there's any thing I should know, an opinion or anything else that would b great because this is my first time building a pc. The specs are as follows.

CPU
Core i7-2600k.          320

Question. Any "k" series is fully unlockable right? Which means I can overclock to what my heart desires or I fry the CPU. But with this configuration what can I expect to overclock it at? I'm lookin for 5Ghz fast computer here

Windows 7 pro          140

GPU
Gtx 570.                    339

I can't find anywhere out there to tell me what resolution this computer can run at so I need that as well to pick out a monitor. And I could use some suggestions on monitors as well.

MOTHERBOARD
Z68 gd55 MSI            220

HDD.         220
Seagate Constellation ES ST31000424SS 1TB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SAS 6Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Ok now i havnt fully decided whether to stick with a hdd or go with a sdd if anyone has an idea about a comparable SSD let me know

DDR3 RAM
Need help on this one looking for the best priced 16 gig ram

OPTICAL DRIVE.            100
LG 10x blu ray WH10LS30k

Power supply
OCZ ZX Series 1250W.       220

Ok lots of questions about this.
Will I need a 1250 watt PS for this build or can I go to 1000 watt?
Is 1250 all the watts I get or do i lose a percentage of this in the transfer of power to all components?

AFT PRO-55U All-in-one USB 2.0 Card Reader.          22

CASE.     154
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition
This is a newegg online only case. Will this case be sufficient in airflow to get that 5ghz speed?

I also need a Bluetooth installed for a gaming headset that I recently purchased (turtle beaches xp500) so any ideas on that would be helpful as well.

This is a gaming pc and will be mostly used for the the new mmo SWTOR. But I'm sure I'll grab skyrim as well. As of now I want this just to be 3d ready. Next year some time is when I'll turn it into a 3d gaming pc. Is there anything special I need to know about 3d for pcs? All of these components I will be buying on black Friday anyone know who usually has the best deals?

Im also a little intimidated about making this pc so I found someone that will build it for 200 but will show me the process while he's doing it. That CPU is very fragile and I don't want to chance me messing it up on account of being a noob. Is that a good deal? Or should I try somewhere else or just suck it up and do it on my own? Ty in advance for information that can help.

Hit me up on the 360!!!! I play COD all the time (SilentArtAgent)

RE: Building my first computer, let me know if these specs work
Yes, the i7-2600K is fully unlocked and you can overclock it until you reach the chip's limit. However, if your goal is to reach 5GHz, you'll need a serious CPU Cooler, such as the Thermalright Silver Arrow.

Resolution wise, aim for 1920 x 1080, something that the GTX 570 will handle with no problem. For recommendations, check out this thread: http://forums.hardware-revolution.com/sh...p?tid=1632

Motherboard wise, that MSI board is okay, but not exactly great for any reason. I tend to recommend the ASRock P67 Extreme 4, which comes with great CPU voltage regulation/cooling, in order to handle heavy overclocking, as well as support for Intel's next generation of CPUs, IvyBridge and PCI-Express 3.0 with it.

"Ok now i havnt fully decided whether to stick with a hdd or go with a sdd if anyone has an idea about a comparable SSD let me know"
No such thing as a HDD that's comparable to a SSD or vice-versa. Also, note that you can use a SSD (for the OS, programs, games) and a HDD (media storage) together, you don't have to use one or the other.

RAM: I recommend these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820233190
Inexpensive (especially with the mail-in rebate), reliable and most importantly: No ridiculously tall heatsinks, which can get in the way of the after-market CPU Cooler.

1250W and 1000W are WAY overkill for this build. Even with overclocking, 600W would be more than enough.

The HAF 932 is a great case, that I often recommend and that will indeed offer sufficient airflow to overclock to 5GHz.

Bluetooth dongle, for Bluetooth support: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6833242003

For 3D support, I'd recommend a 2nd Geforce GTX 570 in SLI, as 3D is very taxing on the video cards. If you do decide to get a 2nd GTX 570, then you'll want a 850W power supply.

To support 3D, you'll also need a 3D ready monitor, as well as Nvidia 3D glasses.

$200 to build it and show it to you seems fairly reasonable. I'd try to negotiate and have that person help you out with overclocking too at that price.

If you have another HDD to use, I'd use those for now as HDD prices are high as of late. For the the Blu Ray drive I think Mathieu lists some that are cheaper, I don't know what speeds they run at though.

And this seems better than OCZ (which I do not like) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...067296&SID= not to mention cheaper

Lastly, maybe a fan controller? I think any setup with SLi or Crossfire would do good with a fan controller.

Unfortunately I dont have a hdd lying around so I'll to suck it up money wise on that part, still need a sound card. I was lookin at at reviews and this PS is gold certified. Is that better?

yeah platinum>gold>silver>bronze>nothing Smile

EDIT: Oh I sorry I thought the one I suggested was gold, not the other way around. Those ratings are just electricity efficiency ratings, not necessarily saying ALL gold PSU> all silver ones and so on.

HDD: See this post: http://www.hardware-revolution.com/best-...mber-2011/

As for the headphones, I looked them up and bluetooth connectivity is with cell phones. I'd recommend skipping the bluetooth dongle (since bluetooth sound quality isn't that great anyway) and connect using the optical cable from the sound card to the receptor instead.

As for the sound card, this would be a good choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6829102024

It's actually platinum>gold>silver>bronze>80 plus>nothing

Also, not all OCZ PSUs are bad, the ZS series is actually something that I have no problem recommending.

RE: Building my first computer, let me know if these specs work
Right, I'm sure they have good PSUs, like I know some of the Tier 2 PSUs are OCZ. I just stereotype them haha just like I won't really wanna go with OCZ SSDs, although I saw a Vertex 3? I think with 4 stars on newegg and it was pretty cheap, so Idk I might back off on them

RE: Building my first computer, let me know if these specs work
Ok I went through that reference guide on ssd and decided to put my two ssd in raid 0 mode. I'll hook up to the sound card you suggested mathieu via optical out. I'm I little confused by your blue tooth comment. There are 2 audio channels basically one the basic sound and one as a chat channel persay, so then I use two optical outs? I think I'll just have to play around on black Friday to find the best hdd. I went to Fry's electronics and they said to look for more deals on the hitachi brands. I guess they weren't affected as much from the disaster.

For Gtx 570 you only need a 550w psu
