Random non-existant HDD shows up
Hey all,
About a week ago I noticed a weird happening within my computer. A random HDD shows up in My Computer that does not actually exist by the name of "Local Disk ( Q: )" and it doesn't show up in my device management, and it says it has a capacity of 0 bytes...

As far as I can remember, I haven't installed any new software recently and I haven't put in any new hardware. Any clues as to why this would pop up?

Edited to get rid of the smiley face in the drive name...

So after searching other forums, it seems to be from Office 2010. If that is the case, that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of and Microsoft deserves a good slap right across the face.

I was thinking just that when I read your first post, I had the same problem too with Office 2010 a few months ago.

Did you find a way to get rid of it?

Nope, I just stop caring about it after a while. I mean, it didn't make my PC unstable or anything else than showing up as a drive.

RE: Random non-existant HDD shows up
Well, if the name alone is to be believed, I found a way to hide any drive from the My Computer screen if it bugs you as much as it bugged me. I haven't tried it, but I doubt it would do anything bad as long as you follow the instructions carefully.
