Video card issues
Hi, first time builder here. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I bought a complete set of components off the interwebs on a whim, but your budget gaming pc guide seemed so solid I had to try. Somehow, I managed to put everything together and it lives!

Video card:

Hmm where to begin. My video card fits onto the motherboard just fine and the fan runs ok. When I try to plug my monitor into the card's dvi adapter, it says "entering power saving mode" which is typical of LG monitor behavior when the tower goes offline. I'm only able to work off the motherboard's vga port obviously.

I've downloaded the latest motherboard chipset.

I've tried disabling onboard graphics, and installing the appropriate drivers for the new video card but that seems to do nothing, as the device manager shows nothing detectable.

I've also gone into BIOS and selected PEG for the display thing.

This is the last thing that is keeping me from the reason I decided to build in the first place; gaming! What do???

RE: Video card issues
If you haven't already, I'd try the video card's other DVI port. Also, make sure that your monitor is trying to display from the DVI port and not the VGA port. Alternatively, your video card includes a DVI to VGA adapter, so you can try using the adapter and plug the VGA cable from your monitor into it.
