opinions on Monitors?
Hello everyone thanks in advance for the help I'm sure everyone is about to give me when they weigh in on this topic. Its my desire to get a discussion on resolution started here.

I've got a good idea what I want to build and pretty much ordered all the parts at this point. Its all pretty much based on tier 6 with the only major deviation there being 2 MSI Geforce GTX 560s in place of the 6870s and the case being the NZXT phantom.

My biggest decision left is the monitor and resolution. I've looked at a couple so far. I'm pretty sure gaming at 1600x900 won't be enough to really take advantage of my build so I axed those ideas.

I have a 22in vizio 1080p led HDTV that will serve as the monitor for the time but a friend has offered to buy it and its my understanding that HDTVs aren't ideal for gaming monitors any how.

Does anyone have any really good recommendations for 1920x1080 gaming monitors? That seems to be the sweet spot in terms of resolution.

these are the ones I was looking at so far going from smallest to largest

Asus ve228 21.5

same?Asus VE278Q 27 in

The other thing I'm wondering about is if you are comparing 2 monitors running the same resolution but one is significantly bigger( say the difference between a 22 to a 27 inch) will the larger monitor take a heavier load on the video cards even though the resolution is the same? Would you notice a huge difference in quality in the larger monitor then the smaller one?

The size of the screen has no impact on performance. It will still be pumping out the same number of pixels. However, if you had a 40 inch TV and were sitting in front of it like you would a smaller monitor, it wouldn't be as good looking as you'll be able to see how the image is stretched more. I realize the wording there is odd, but let this picture say the same thing I attempted to say.

Not to mention that would be bad for your eyes...

I have heard complaints of people saying their 27" 1080p monitor looks "terrible", but they're just snobs. 27" about 2-3 feet from your face should look just fine.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention, TVs tend to have a higher response time, ranging from 8-12ms as far as I know. This makes them more susceptible to ghosting, which basically means you could see some annoying double images. Monitors have 2-5ms response time.
