Adam's New "Work"station

RE: Adam's New "Work"station
Hm, from what I've read that temp seems a little high, but I can't claim to know any more than what I've read lol. I know one of the things I was looking at was saying that overclocking the i5 past 3.6 mHz was ballsy without liquid cooling, but I'd assume the i7 should be able to go a bit higher?

Glad to hear CoD is doing well, as that will be my #1 program on my computer, lol!

I'm sure the rest of these guys will be able to offer more help with the heat issue, lol.

I love the all black setup. Looks awesome. Yeah the wires look great. Doesn't look like a tangled mess.

Ok, Call of Duty - Black Ops runs BEAUTIFULLY. Using the AI Suite, it never really pushed the CPU so it didn't overclock, processor stays at 33c... haven't yet figured out how to get the console to show, to see actual FPS.... Gonna be a long night Smile

RE: Adam's New "Work"station
70s C is higher than what you'd want for a 24/7 setup. You want to try to keep that CPU temperature under 60C preferably.

Basically, you're reaching the limit of the heatsink here. You can add a second 120mm fan to improve temperatures, if you want to.

Nice setup, glad to hear that everything is working flawlessly Big Grin

RE: Adam's New "Work"station
Ok, I disabled all of the software overclocking stuff, but don't see how to disable it in the bios. I chose the "good" setting, instead of "better" or "ultimate"(?), but it still overclocks the cpu to 3.97 GHz... temps are fine, I just did a 2 hour COD - Black Ops session, full detail at 1920X1080 at the temp was almost always below 60, never higher than 63c... here's my CPU-Z result:

Anyone have suggestions or opinions?

If it's staying in the 60's under load then you're fine. Very nice looking machine.

RE: Adam's New "Work"station
I dunno, I'm not comfortable with that... right now, I'm being careful to monitor CPU temp on the 2nd monitor, but once I'm doing intensive work in Lightroom, both screens are going to be in use....

Tongue CoD:BO won't let me get to the console in Campaign mode... Online, it's a constant 60 fps, so I'm assuming that it's limited? Big Grin

RE: Adam's New "Work"station
Ohhhh yeah, well they should be the same assuming you have all your graphics settings the same and I'm not sure about the limited fps since my current computer doesn't go above 20 fps Sad
