Stuck in S3 Sleep
Hello. I recently built my pc for college, and I've been unable to get it to come out of standby mode. I've tried rewiring everything, resetting the cpu and ram, and clearing cmos.

At this point I'm wondering if maybe there's a problem with my motherboard or if this is a common problem with an easy solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. c:

RE: Stuck in S3 Sleep
You're not using an SSD are you? Also, what RAM? Since S3 writes active files to RAM, it's possibly it's a bad stick, but usually it's something else going on - overclocks, BIOS version outdated, or BIOS settings just not set correctly (sometimes set to only allow mouse click, or only allow network, etc. to wake)

RE: Stuck in S3 Sleep
I'm using an HDD and 4 GB (2x2) of Kingston ram.

I haven't even been able to get into the bios, is the point. It won't wake up, so my monitor won't recognize it or anything.

RE: Stuck in S3 Sleep
Unplug it, reset CMOS, boot, go into BIOS and look into your sleep options. You most likely have an option not set properly in there, that prevents wake-up from sleep.

Moving this to Troubleshooting.

RE: Stuck in S3 Sleep
Try to disable sleep timer
Go to Control Panel> Power Options.
Click Change plan settings inside the chosen plan.
Choose Change Advanced Power Settings.
There Click + sign besides Sleep.
Click + sign beside Allow Wake Timers.
Now select Disable and click Apply > OK.

I mean, I haven't been able to boot it at all. I've been having problems since I built it. Sad

Not being able to boot and not coming back from sleep are two different things. If one happens, then the other (goes to sleep, then no longer POSTS), it's almost certainly a bad motherboard. But how did you determine it was stuck in S3 sleep if it didn't boot?

Not booting and sleep issues have some very different troubleshooting involved.

RE: Stuck in S3 Sleep
Dr. Debug says that it's in a S3 sleep. Always.
