X58 Sabertooth or EVGA X58 SLI ?
I have decided to build an i7 950 rig. I have been reading reviews on both these boards. I like the look of the EVGA, but more imprtantly the Sabertooth seem to have better functions. The only thing I can't seem to find is the x16 PCI slot spacing. Right now I am not going to SLI my cards but in less than a year I will. Which would be the better board to help me keep my PC going for 3-5 years ?
Thanks in advance |

Which EVGA X58 motherboard are you talking about? There are 3 I believe.

I don't remember the EXACT model but the price is the same as the sabertooth @ $199.95 on New egg. Both have gotten over 65% positive reviews on New Egg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product |

I take it you mean: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813188068
Looks like the EVGA doesn't support x16/x16 SLI (doesn't make any difference really) but besides from that they're virtually identical. Go with whatever is cheaper.

One last question in regards to my PSU. If I want to SLI in the future say 2 GTX 570 will the 850 PSU work ?

As long as it come with ehough plug-ins to power both cards. I think your wattage would be enough.
AMD Phenom ii X6 1090T ($230)

Hoping in a month or so to be able to afford that and then power it up. I know the i7 950 is out dated already but I bout it from a microcenter on sale about 5 months ago for 179.00. The rest I had to get after. So even though it will be "out dated" I think it will be a VAST improvement over my current Sony Vaio RB52 desk top with an aging Pentium D 2.6 |
