HELP TO FIND NEW PC CASE & MOTHERBOARD
I am still working on finalizing parts for my build. I had chosen the PC case, a very huge Cooler Master RC 942 KKN1 .( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...42-KKN1%29)

It was chosen because it has on it: 6 external 5.25” drive bays, 5 internal 3.5” drive bays and 9 expansion slots. The front ports have USB 3.0 x 2, USB 2.0 x 2, Audio x 1, Mic x 1, e-Sata x 1, 1394a x 1. The case also has a hot swap Sata Dock and it is supposed to be easily accessible.

Dimensions are 23”L x 9.1”W x 21.7”L. Weight: 31.6 pounds.

On second thought about this case, I am reluctant to buy it because of the size and had read some where just the electronics on it uses 150 watts!

I looked at many cases and could not find one with all of these features or even close.

Consequently, I would take it kindly if some of you would tell me the name of a case with the above features. It would not have to have a hot swap drive. I could buy one and plug it into the PC. 9 slots are not needed.

My concern is that the PC has another port to plug in my backup drive.

Lastly, would you folks, recommend a Sandy Bridge motherboard with Z68 on it?

Thanks in advance.

There's no way that the fans on that case use 150W, whoever told you that is full of it. It's a solid case.

What's your budget for the motherboard?

They use 1-2W per fan ABSOLUTE MAX (maybe a little more if they are LED fans). Most fans draw a fraction of a watt.

I built my PC with this board. Asus P8Z68-V On board power button came in handy when I did my test build outside the case. There's also a Pro version that's a little more pricey, but has extra 6 Gb/s ports and a firewire port. UEFI BIOS is also nice.

This is a humongous full tower and it's gonna draw a lot more than just 150W if you are gonna stuff it with all the HDD, graphics card, and fans you can get.

RE: HELP TO FIND NEW PC CASE & MOTHERBOARD
Thanks to all of you for your help. It is very much appreciated!

I would go as high as $ 300 or so for a good motherboard. Since I have saved for quit awhile for a build, I will pay within reason what it takes to get a top-notch PC.

I would also appreciate suggestions on a smaller case with the items in the case I mentioned or close to them.

Since I'm a new to PC building, any suggestions are very helpful.

Thank you all again for your help!

What kind of processor do you have already?

I would go with this deluxe z68 motherboard for that kind of money.

This would be the most beautiful case you ever have and need, the Haf 912 advance. The middle hdd case is removable and you can take the SSD cage on the bottom and mount in on top of the bottom HDD cage. The cable management is really nice; you have a lot of room on the back to route and store cables.

Yes but the case itself won't draw anywhere near 150W.

Have you looked at the Tier 8-10 motherboards?

Sorry I sounded misleading Big Grin

However though, it seems like he doesn't need a full tower consider how he's so worried about power consumption. Chances are he doesn't even have enough to fill up a mid tower so why waste space and money on a big case?

I came close to getting a Coolermaster case, but I wanted something more subtle. The Corsair 650D is a nice case or look into a Lian Li cases.
