Constructing my first PC
Hey everyone, this site and the forum have been great, and I've used it to figure out how to make my first PC. I'm going to use it for more or less just gaming. I'd really like this to be able to play recently/about to be released games on medium-high, and games 2-3 years down the road on medium-low or even just low. I used mostly Tier 7 parts, and I'd like to have a fresh pair of eyes to make sure everything looks alright. Thanks in advance for any help.

CPU: Intel i5-2500k 3.3Ghz Turbo Unlocked Multiplier (going to overclock)
Mobo: ASRock P67 Extreme4 LGA1155 SATA 6 Gb/s USB 3.0 ATXB3
RAM: G.Skill 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz
Storage: OCZ Vertex 2 120GB 3.5" SSD
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 (2)
Optical Drive: ASUS SATA 24x DVD Burner
Case: HAF 932 Adv. Full Tower 3.0
Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W 80 PLUS
Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper212 Plus

What do you guys think? For stats, I was mostly looking at Shogun: Total War 2, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas. If I made some stupid mistakes here please let me know. Again, thanks for your help.

Looks great, it'll handle the games you listed no problem on the highest settings. Good luck with the build!

RE: Constructing my first PC
Hey everyone,

Well, just wanted to say everything has seemed to have worked out. I may have put too much thermal grease on the heatsink and bent a pin in the USB 3.0 socket, but nothing has sparked or smoked yet, so fingers crossed!

Isn't learning fun?

I do have a quick question though, I thought I could use the Windows 7 product key that I use on my laptop for this computer. Well, DRM put the kibosh on that plan, so I downloaded the Windows 7 Pro with the student deal from Microsoft. Now, can I put the Windows 7 setup files on my external hard drive and boot from that, or do I need the CD itself?

Thanks for any help.

I don't know if you could use your key again but you could install windows with an external hard drive/usb. You can also burn that file into a dvd to make your life easier....doesn't cost much at all.
