If I'm Forced to Upgrade Now...

RE: If I'm Forced to Upgrade Now...
Looks good. Good luck with the build!

>And finally, a friend recommended I look into Mac Minis, as well. Here's what I found that's close to this rig:

Not even close. The processor is dual core and the graphics card is a low powered laptop card. The rig you threw together will obliterate it.

Awesome! That solves the Mini dilemma. Thank you!

What about the CD drive? Can I just yank the one from the Dell?
ORDER PLACED!

You know what? Never mind; getting a brand new drive is worth the $20 to me; plus, I can more easily sell the Dell that way...but what about the SSD? Do you think it would be worth buying in the future?

Yeah, I kind of figured that's the response I'd get, but it was worth mentioning. Might have been okay for non-gaming purposes, but I honestly have reservations about making the jump to Apple. Steve Jobs won't get my money so easily...Tongue

Okay for non-gaming purposes. Your getting the performance of a laptop, with the limitations of a desktop, with the limitations of an ultraportable laptop all in one. The only use that I could ever see for it is as an HTPC/nettop, but it's too expensive for that AND it doesn't have an optical drive. I'm currently designing HTPC builds, and I can design something relatively small form factor with way more horsepower and space. Of course, it's not going to be THAT small.

But look at that face...it's so cute!

Too bad it doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up.

Apple sure has some good marketing skills if they persuaded me so easily to buy an inferior machine for about the same price, maybe more.

Interesting take on a case! I like the prospect of taking a tiny box and filling it with awesomeness.

...And now for some reason I feel dirty.

My friend still swears by the things, but he's definitely not the dedicated gaming nerd that I am. My guess is that Crysis would make that thing cry. A lot.

Anything besides web browsing and watching video would make a Mac Mini cry. It's really a huge waste of money.

My friend ran some super-choppy Team Fortress 2...and that's about it.
