Thoughts on noob build
Hi guys -

Thinking of taking a stab at building my first PC. I'm primarily looking at a budget gaming rig. What do you think of this build? Any compatibility issues I overlooked? Any cost saving suggestions? I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible, but still be able to play the most recent games at decent settings. This prices out to around $525 on newegg. Thanks!

Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER
Motherboard: ASUS M4A78LT-M
CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 455
Power Supply: Rosewill RG530-S12
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6850
RAM: Kingston 4GB 1333D3 (x1)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green 750GB - WD7500AARS
Optical: LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner

RE: Thoughts on noob build
I have a few suggestions for you on this build that is already pretty good! Check out this motherboard instead of the one you selected, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product , because it is AM3+ so you can upgrade to a Bulldozer processor when they come out. Also get this DVD drive, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product , it is preferred here at HR. Check out this 4GB stick of RAM too, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820231307 . I would also check out this video card, it will save you some money, but it has the same specs as what you selected, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product .

The problem with using a Caviar Green is that it's going to be pretty slow as a boot drive, and I'd recommend you either get a Caviar Blue/Black or a Samsung F3 instead, even if it's less storage or more expensive.

Second, all those optical drives are pretty much are the same, but ASUS does win out on reliability, as cubsrule93 has recommended. However, it is ok to buy another model if that one out of stock, as opticals often are.
