Mainstream Gaming PC
So I'm looking to build myself a new gaming desktop. I was looking to do around a Tier 6 mainstream build. However, I don't really see much of a need for overclocking my machine. I'd like to have the more powerful video card and more RAM from that tier though. So basically, is there anything I can drop down from the recommended tier 6 build if I don't want to overclock?

RE: Mainstream Gaming PC
You can drop down to the tier 4 cpu and motherboard.

The tier 4 CPU is a i5 4670 non (K) meaning its a locked chip and cannot be overclocked.

The biggest befit from the the tier 6 motherboard is the fact that it supports overclocking. Since you wont be overclocking you can drop down to the tier 4 motherboard.

Okay cool. Thanks for the clarification.

As another option, I was considering going up to the i7-4770 (again, no overclocking). Would the Tier 4 motherboard still be sufficient here?
