To make sure, this is mostly parts listed in the budget build article, correct? I want to point out that, outside of specific pairings listed in the article (Eg: an 1155 Intel chip MUST go with an 1155 Intel mobo) you can switch out anything that's in that article.

I do see you have different RAM & DVD drive than listed - both of those will work, but as a note, you're probably paying too much for the DVD burner (should be around $20, not $30) unless you want that one for a particular reason. But other than that, you look good to go!

If don't mind me asking, what is your max budget? The G860 is on the weak side especially for video editing. Also what resolution monitor do you have?

Once we know a budget we can start changing parts to fit the price.

I was hoping to stay around the same budget as I currently have in those items listed. So around 600. And yes those were all from the budget build article, and oh could you link me to a cheaper DVD drive? And I'm hoping to have a 20" widescreen monitor, I'm just using a laptop for now.

Should I just upgrade the video card to

EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SUPERCLOCKED 2048MB GDDR5 DVI HDMI DP Graphics Card

RE: Compatible? - Brandonsr - 05-07-2013

Upgrading the CPU would be best. Considering windows will cost about $100 I would go with a tier 1.

RE: Compatible? - tkCrown - 05-07-2013

Which one would you suggest?

RE: Compatible? - Brandonsr - 05-07-2013

Basically everything shown for tier 1 would be the parts to choose.

Also I'm a student with access to Microsoft Dreamspark so I can download any of their OS's for free for my own personal use for free.
