New build not booting (Solved!) - SnickerKitten - 12-23-2012

In this build:
HAF 922 case
Asus P8H 61-M CSM motherboard
Intel i5 3470 CPU
Thermalake 750watt Bronze power supply
Radeon HD 7850 1GB DDR5 graphics card
16G Kingston DDR3 RAM
1TB Western Digital HDD (blue)

After assembling it, I powered it on and the light on the motherboard is on, the fans all come on including the one on the processor and the one on the graphics card. Nothing else happens. I have tried plugging in to video from the graphics card and from the motherboard, no BIOS comes up at all.

Please help ASAP. I am building this computer for my son for Christmas and I will be a very very bad SantaMommy if I give him a non-running computer!!!!

The H61 chipset is not for Ivy Bridge. It is only for 2000 series Sandy Bridge. You will have to get a P67, Z68, H77, Z75, or Z77 chipset.

It says it supports "Intel inside CORE" which is what the processor box had on it. Is this not correct?

Thank you very much!!! I took the motherboard back and exchanged it for an ASUS P8B75-M/CSM and everything works wonderfully. I am no longer a bad SantaMommy Smile It was only $15 more and I have an additional two memory slots so I can double the RAM at my convenience, if needed.

that depends on the MB and the manufacturer. most will with new bios updates.
