The only PC game I've ever played is World of Warcraft. A buddy of mine convinced me to pre-purchase Guild Wars 2 and after reading a bit about it, I'm pretty excited.

Anyone else diving in? Think it'll be good? Could it be a WoW-killer. So many potential WoW-killers have come out but people seem to return to WoW. That being said, WoW was at 12 million subs, then 10 and now about 9 I think.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited for GW2 and would like to hear anyone's thoughts.
I have never really played guild wars. I beta tested the first one but that's about it. Never really got into wow much either. I do look forward to it tbough. I may have to pick it up.

Sent from my rooted EVO 4g using tapatalk.
I played and enjoyed the first one, never got into WoW, played some FFXI online which was fun, but got sick of the monthly fee eventually.

I'll see what the reviews and players say of the game when it comes out and might just give it a shot.
This does seem pretty interesting. It seems like it will come out a lot better than Diablo 3. Diablo 3 dropped the ball on a lot of things and I know some people that are moving to GW2.
Final Fantasy!!! When I was a boy, ha, my buddy introduced me to Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. Thought they were the best! I dropped games all together until college when I saw my super geek friend summoning some kind of lightning wizard from the ground in Final Fantasy VII and I knew I needed to play again. Loved FFVII and then played FFX and loved that too. Another gaming freeze ensued until a co-worker urged me to give WoW a shot a few years ago. Got hooked quick but now, with lots of work, a social life (a little one) and just life in general, WoW can be a bit demanding to keep up.

From what I've read, the makers of Guild Wars 2 seem to understand that there are a lot of people like me out there. They've removed the monthly fee and it seems like they've taken the grind out of the game, at least for PvP. I guess in PvP it doesn't matter what level you are. They "normalize" everyone so that you're all at the same level during PvP battles. Also, I guess the largest group size is five. Sure, groups of 10 and 25 feels more exciting but not all of us have time to organize large groups like that. I told a few friends of mine, who dropped WoW because of the grind, about GW2 and they seem pretty interested. We'll see what happens but these developers may have hit a sweet spot. Oh, no tanks and no healers either! Every class ("profession" in GW2 lingo) has its own heals and defense.

FFXI was amazing, I've been tempted to go back but leveling would probably be impossible with a limited player base now.

I've been on the fence with GW2, I've never been huge into PvP in MMO's but GW2 looks great. I'll see how it goes after release, not sure if I want to dive into this or CS:GO.
I played the first GW and I really enjoyed it, especially since it was one of the first quality MMO's to not require a monthly fee (which was the main reason I bought and played it). It ended up surpassing any expectations I had for it. I'm assuming GW 2 will be just as good if not better.
I've been secretly stalking beta reviews and some of the popular youtube starting-zone clips, and I can only say I hope the gaming community hasn't hyped it up so much that it can't meet the ridiculous expectations I have for it! I'll likely give it a month or so after release and see how it actually is before coughing up the $60. Nevertheless, I'm just excited about the concepts that ArenaNet is so passionate about imposing on the genre (no dedicated healers/tanks, dynamic events, class ability combos etc.) I just read an interesting article that basically claims GW2 will effectively be the end of subscription-based gaming. WoW will likely die off (as ALL games eventually do) into a cult of the hardcores within a few years.

But yes, I'm excited to see how this shapes things to come! I'm hoping it will truly be as *different* as it claims to be.
I never liked the first one. It was good, but I missed the whole thing with walking into random people. Everything used instances (?).
Well I caved and bought it today after watching some streams of the head start weekend. I've got it installing right now, who else is playing?
