Ok so Im giving myself a new PC this Christmass (Woot!!) and I would like some feedback. Here are my parts list:
CASE:
CoolerMaste White
CPU:
Intel I5
MOBO:
Gigabyte mobo
GPU:
GeForce 550
RAM:
Kingston 8gb
HD:
Seagate 500gb
PSU:
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W
DVD:
LG DVD Burner
Im trying to be future proof.... From what I hear I can buy a second Geforce 550 and link them together if I need a better graphics card in the future or somthing.... Also I was wondering if this build can play AAA titles like B:AC, AC:R, COD:MW3 cuz im planing to buy them if steam puts them on sale during christmass....
get an asus dvd burner on newegg. its $20
Thats ok, I can price match it down to $20.... But other than that anything wrong with the build??
It should run all of those, but if your gonna go with a 550 Ti, you should just spend liek 15 bucks more for a 6870. I don't think your motherboard will be good enough for SLi, not to mention the card itself for SLi is pretty bad.
Stratch that your Mobo will be fine for SLi since its x16/x8 I thought it was x16/x4, but regardless the card itself won't be good for SLi'ing
No Im not planning on overclocking it.... Yet.... So I dont need a cooling fan.... But thanks for the tip on the mobo, power supply and graphics card!! Also Im keeping the case.... It looks too cool IMO.... (>^~^)>
EDIT: Whoops.... Spoke too soon.... The MOBO you suggested dosnt have an HDMI port.... I need one so I can link it to my TV/Monitor.... But the GPU and PSU check out fine!!

The reason he brought up overclocking is because you listed an unlocked CPU. If you don't intend to overclock there's no reason to buy that specific CPU and could save about $10 going with the locked version:

If you are on the fence about overclocking, then the unlocked version may be better, but it will need better cooling when you do.
As for the HDMI port, the video card takes care of that and has one.

If you're using a GPU then you wouldn't be connecting the monitor or TV to the Mobo, but rather to the GPU as Mathieu mentioned. If you connect it to the Mobo you would get the onboard performance rather than the GPU performance, something you wouldn't want.
TBH I only have a buget of ~$800 after tax and this set up (including the new PSU and GPU) with MIR and price matching is about that much.... So I cant afford the cooling system or a good GPU ATM.... Thats why Im not overclocking it yet and hoping that the SLI will help me play the bigger games in the future.... Anyway thanks for all your help guys!! Im gonna order the parts on Monday and hope that I can build it soon after!! Wish me luck!! (>^~^)>
Edit: oh.... I didnt know that.... Good thing I havent bought anything yet.... Ok, thanks again for all your advice!!
