Ok, finally got the green light to order the rest of my parts tomorrow, so I couldn't resist starting a thread. Here's the setup:
- Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
- ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
- Two HIS H685F1GD Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
- G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
- SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
- LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer Black SATA Model iHAS424-98 LightScribe Support
- COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
- ARCTIC COOLING Arctic Cooling MX-4 AC-MX4 All-Around Thermal Compound
- KINGWIN Mach 1 ABT-1000MA1S 1000W ATX / BTX SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
- Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
- ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 20000:1 (1000:1) Built-in Speakers
- RAZER Lachesis 5600 Black 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser Mouse
- COOLER MASTER R4-L2R-20AC-GP 120mm Blue LED Case Fan
- APEVIA CF12SL-UBL 120mm Blue LED Case Fan
One fan is to replace the one on the Cooler Master Hyper 212, and the other is for the side of the case, provided I have room to fit everything in there.
I actually have two pretty easy questions.
1. Do I need any extra parts or cables or anything to run the 6850's in Crossfire? The how-to I was looking at mentioned something about a bridge connector, and I don't want to be missing some $10 part that makes the whole thing useless.
2. With 6 case fans and the Hyper 212, I kinda feel like I should overclock, and my only real reason for not doing it is that I don't want to ruin my computer. What do you guys think? If there a "best" guide to overclocking out there?
Everything should be here Thursday (Friday at the latest!), so I'll take some group shots of everything before I start building, and I'll post progress pics and final product assuming I can get it to work
. Once more, and I can't say this enough, thanks to everyone in on these forums for giving me confidence and advice, even if I was just reading other people's topics, haha!
